Wow I'm a dumb

A bunch of illustration kids drew some spooky/halloween related things and it was bound into a book and given to a teacher at Massart who's all about halloween.
Some scans of a couple pages I did.. I did a spread but for some odd reason I forgot to scan the other half? I thought I double checked and everything to make sure. I'm a dumb. GUESS WHICH ONE'S THE SPREAD?
I think the severed head girl was drawn in response to people thinking my dry point resembled a same weber painting. rageragerage

an apple done on corel painter. I think we had to use the color and depth option. I'm not too keen on it. it's super cheesy. aightaightaight. After a while I just felt stupid trying to make a digital piece look traditional.

Just some process work for my next printmaking ..print. it's a 14inch x 18 inch hardground etching.
I don't know how it's going to translate exactly since the darkness of line depends on the amount of time the plate is in the acid for. so I'm not sure if I should work on the darker parts first then move onto the lighter parts so the acid has more time to make the darks darker?

oyhoo I hate thinking. Just been so burnt out this week.
anyways these are just some thumbnails. I was attracted to the left most two on the middle row. but I'd already done a yak/llama type print already and the other one looked really similar to a preexisting piece of work. it seems like I've been running into this problem when I find myself using the same compositions/subject matter/layout as other people. I did a drypoint that looks like a sam weber painting. ffffffffffffffffffffffffff. It kills me to think that I'm doing something original only to have someone else point out that it's been done before. fasjlkfajsfjlff

An actual woodcut print

An actual scan of a print this time! THis is one of the variations I did of my first woodcut. It's over another girl's chiaroscuro print of a sun. This is the basically what my woodblock looks like right now, with that huge mass of black on white on the left side to get rid of that gross random splurge of stuff.

I'm taking an intro to printmaking class this semester and it makes me wish I was a printmaking major instead. (minus all the fineartsystuffthingsok)

so far we've done monotypes and two different kinds of woodcut, we're moving on to dry point now.

I also managed to buy 30 ounces worth of cream cheese when I only needed 3 ounces.. I think I need to work on my handwriting. A 5 year old probably has better handwriting than me. :V

A Swedish Style of Smoking

I did a shit-shitty painting yesterday.

When I get really bored I like to go through people's photo albums on facebook. Sometimes I find pictures that really stand out to me like this one of a guy smoking two cigarettes, of course the next photo in the album is the swedish style of dealing with a hangover at starbucks, really classy stuff.

so I just have a folder of weird photos that I find interesting and I wasn't sure what I wanted to paint so I just bhsruhsfrhssfsdfsf this together. the heart and crown is a tattoo around someone's nipple. blahblahblalblablblaah. The girl holding her dress up is from someone's flickr.. I think.

I have super unsteady hands so it's blurry and shitty but that's ok cause it's a blurry and shitty painting. I'm probably not going to finish it. one with flash and one without, I guess one is more in focus while the other one's just..for seeing exactly what's going on. blahblahblblbalafhdsf

I want a really fine brush that won't die on me after one use.

Then I went back down again to see the Jeff Soto and Dave Cooper show at the Jonathan Levine Gallery. Really good stuff!

Friends and I decided to get to the gallery via the High line. It used to be an elevated railway for freight trains, but it hasn't been used for a long time so they're turning into a park. I think maybe about a third of it is done, there're plans for 3 different sections and they all have different themes. Super cool.

I've been trying to find an internship with a gallery or with an artist cause I thought it'd be interesting to try something not commercial/nothing related to illustration. But uh..so far not so much luck with that.

I made banana bread today and now my apartment smells delicious but I'm still very sad because I'm still lying in cat litter. Laundry time..soon.

I'm taking an online course now to help me forget my loneliness correct my horrible sleeping habit and get motivated to do stuff. Plus my writing sucks so I gotta practice.

But I've also gotten over feeling guilty about playing my PS2 so I'm kind of failing productivity wise right now.

but we'll see.

Present day things

some stuff I'm doing now... I basically didn't leave my apartment the first two weeks or so of summer vacation and got really bored and frustrated. so I drew a bit then I went to parks and stuff and drew some trees and shit. I went down to New York for a couple of days to check out the Mark Ryden Show and hang out with some friends. a nice change, but I think I spent 80% of my time there eating and eating and eating desserts and walking.

eh I got really into drawing mugshots at the start of the semester but I got bored.

I like my scanner..even though it's 1000000000 years old. I don't really have to alter anything. and the colors are pretty accurate

it just can't seem to handle really saturated colors which is a shame
